Everything to Know About the Apple iPad

Posted in News by Alec Morgana on January 27, 2010 1 Comment

Today was a very exciting day for the Apple world. After several months of rumors about the new tablet that they have been working on, we can finally say it actually exists! This latest creation is much like a giant iPhone. It features a multi touch screen just like the iPhone although it’s too big to be considered a phone so they call it a mixture between an iPhone and a full size laptop, it’s an iPad! The device runs on a slightly modified version of the iPhone OS meaning that just about all applications on the iPhone app store will run on the iPad. The very nice thing about this is that it will open up a whole new audience for developers. Speaking of developers, the iPad SDK is available right now to current paid iPhone developers as a beta. Although iPhone apps will run on the iPad, Apple believes that some developers may begin making applications specifically for the tablet. Along with the app store, the iPad will include Apple’s new iBook store where the user will have the ability to browse, purchase, and read books right on their tablet. This is just one of the many incredible features that this device includes.

The actual tablet itself is 7.47 by 9.54 inches in size and incredibly only half an inch thick. The multi touch display is 9.7 inches and features LED-backlighting. The Apple iPad is not available to buy for another few months but we can fill you in on pricing. The iPad will be available in two versions, Wifi and 3G. It will also be available in a 16, 32, and 64 GB model. The iPad starts at just $499 all the way to $829. This price blows away the previous rumors of over $2000 making it very affordable. If you would like to find out even more about the iPad, click here to visit the Apple website where you can browse all of it’s features, more photos, and play a very nice video! iPhone Saves Life in Haiti Earthquake!

Posted in News by Alec Morgana on January 22, 2010 No Comments yet

About 2 weeks ago a devastating earthquake hit Haiti, a country in the Caribbean. Many people have been killed and injured in this tragic event. Dan Woolley, an American filmmaker, happened to be down there when the 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit. He was trapped under his collapsed hotel with a fractured leg and a badly bleeding wound on his head. Not knowing what to do he turned to his iPhone for help and used the Jive Media Pocket First Aid and CPR application to look up how he could self treat himself. He was in fact able to maintain his wounds until he was found by french rescuers just under 3 days later. Now that these incredible devices are even saving lives I think it is safe to say that there is an app for anything!

After this event many people like Dan Woolley are still trapped alive or are injured and need our help. If you would like to donate to the American Red Cross for this cause click here or text HAITI to 90999 to donate 10 dollars. Every little bit counts!

Rumored Apple Tablet “iSlate” to Launch in 2010

Posted in News by Alec Morgana on January 13, 2010 1 Comment

Unofficially, it sounds like Apple has reserved January 27 of 2010 to announce their latest product, a tablet which is rumored to be called the iSlate. It has been found out that the domain name iSlate.com has been registered by Apple. It is not known if this is just one of many names they have been deciding on. A tablet in short, is basically a touch screen based computer. The iSlate is supposedly going to have a 7 inch display, other sizes unknown of might also be available. The iSlate is also rumored to feature a new technology known as Tactile Feedback which is where the screen of the device will actually change in shape to form a keyboard while typing. The iSlate has been said to run on a modified version of the iPhone operating system. This means that all applications on the iPhone app store should also run on this new tablet. Companies such as Sports Illustrated have also been rumored to be working on tablet friendly versions of their magazines. This is going to be a revolutionary device, if it even exists!

Microsoft LifeCam Cinema HD

Posted in Reviews by Alec Morgana on January 12, 2010 1 Comment

The Microsoft LifeCam Cinema HD is an extraordinary webcam. It shoots incredible high definition, widescreen video. The webcam is also equipped with a digital microphone including noise canceling technology which has little feedback and sounds pretty good. One of my favorite features of the webcam is the flexible mount on the underside used for attaching the product to your computer or elsewhere. The mount bends forward and backward making it the perfect fit for any monitor. The outer body is made of aluminum and looks very nice. Another thing I was surprised about was the size of the webcam, it is substantially smaller than I anticipated when looking at it on the internet. This webcam is going to cost you somewhere around $90.00 and is not what people usually pay for a webcam. While it films beautifully on a PC, using the webcam with a Mac is not quite the same experience. The quality is reduced, the frame rate drops and auto focus doesn’t work. While all of this sounds terrible, overall it is a very professional and good quality webcam. Make sure you keep all of that in mind when purchasing this product.
