Today in Cupertino, Apple introduced us to some pretty incredible updates, as usual. The first announcement was pretty expected. Apple introduced us to iLife 11 featuring iPhoto 11, iMovie 11, GarageBand 11, and the other usuals. iPhoto now includes full screen mode, enhanced social networking tools, enhanced book and card creation and of course they threw in a few more slideshow themes. iMovie now has enhanced tools for editing audio inside clips, more video effects, news and sports themes and movie trailer creation templates. GarageBand now includes the ability to automatically reorder and sync audio clips of various instruments into a nice sounding tune. Also, music lessons for Piano and Guitar have also been topped up and now monitor you as you learn and show your mistakes and improvements. Apple also threw in by popular demand, FaceTime. It allows you to have a video call with an iPhone 4 or iPod touch on your Mac. It’s not part of iLife 11 and is available as a beta here now. We could all see a lion in the picture and yes, 10.7 Lion is here! Apple says they brought many popular iOS features More…

“Back to the Mac” What will we see?

Posted in News by Reed Barthold on October 19, 2010 2 Comments

Tomorrow Apple will be holding their “Back to the Mac” event in Cupertino. You can guess it got its title to symbolize that they finally have something new for Macs after all the recent iOS news. With each event announcement comes a photo. The photo for this event features an apple logo pealed back revealing a lion, possibly the name of the new Mac OS 10.7. Although the Apple OS systems are usually not released to the users for a whole year after announced, it is still definitely something to be excited about. The MacBook air is also rumored to be updated, with a smaller screen, possibly 11″. The “MacTouch” is yet another rumor that has been floating around the internet for quite a long time. Apple sent in patents for a large touch type mac. While this seems a little unreasonable, it is definitely possible as Apple strives to be the best and first in everything. The last rumor is the 7″ iPad, almost like a little brother to the 10″ iPad that has already been out for 6 months. This is almost More…

Inside the Apple Wireless Keyboard

Posted in Reviews by Alec Morgana on August 31, 2010 No Comments yet

Apple’s wireless keyboard can be used for many different things. Its main uses are of course for a Mac, iPad and now even iPhone. Since the release of iOS 4 the iPhone can now connect to a wireless keyboard as well. The keyboard connects simply over bluetooth, there is no receiver to plug into your computer. It’s also incredibly light and thin taking up virtually no space on your desk. It takes just 2 AA batteries which last a good 2 months if you turn it off while it’s not in use. As far as the exterior of the keyboard, it’s the same aluminum as Macs, has plastic keys and plastic on the bottom. The only thing it’s missing is light up keys but I can understand why they’re not there to improve battery usage. The wireless keyboard also works wonders for the iPad. The iPad goes from a tablet to a laptop in a matter of seconds by connecting it in the settings. Of course it works the exact same way with the iPhone as well. If you’d like to find out more about the Apple Wireless keyboard visit their website for full details. Don’t forget to watch our video review where we demo it on all 3 devices.

Island Racer – Bakno.com

Posted in Reviews by Alec Morgana on August 3, 2010 No Comments yet

There are always people using the famous excuse why not to buy a Mac “They can’t run good games!”. I can’t count how many examples of great games there are for Macs to prove this is false. Probably one of the best examples is an amazing racing game known as Island Racer! It works on both Mac and PC but for the sake of the review, we tested it on a Mac. The first thing anyone would point out is the graphics. The amount of detail in the cars and scenery around them is incredible. It really shows what a Mac can do! Realism is one of the games best features. Different cars perform better on different tracks, make different engine noises and much more. During the game you can enjoy driving around the maps on your own, against a computer or even online against your friends who have the game. This all sounds great but what really makes the game unique and fun is your ability to ditch the roads and take your car anywhere you want. There are no invisible boundaries. In fact, once I went so far out into the ocean with my car I got lost and couldn’t get back! When you’re not driving into the water you can jump off cliffs and use many of the obstacles provided around the maps. At only $19.95 this game is a steal when you consider the cost of others that do not allow you to do this! Grab the free trial by visiting our free downloads page. Don’t forget to visit their website and watch our video review of the game!

Should You Switch to iWork?

Posted in Reviews by Alec Morgana on July 27, 2010 1 Comment

If you’re an Apple fan you’ve probably had all of their Macs, iPods, and the new iPad. But have you tried iWork? Most people are scared to switch because they feel it’s incompatible with other suites like Microsoft Office which was proven most popular on a poll in our sidebar! I’d like to start by assuring you that it is in fact compatible! Where’s my reference? It says so right on the iWork box! The suite consist of Pages, Keynote and Numbers. Pages is a standard text editor like Microsoft Word, Keynote is like PowerPoint but much more advanced and Numbers is a standard spreadsheet creator like Excel. Unlike other companies, Apple focuses on detail like the quality of how something looks that is created with their software for example a movie created in iMovie. iWork is much the same, it features stunning templates and graphics to make your work look truly amazing. iWork includes what is probably the most professional presentation creation software on the planet! Keynote features stunning templates, animations and transitions to make presentations look jaw dropping. In fact Apple uses Keynote to create their own keynote presentations during product unveilings and special events. If you’ve got an iPad you can get the same 3 programs each as an app. They’ve got just about everything the Mac version has other than having a few less templates. To grab iWork for yourself or find out more be sure to visit their website and don’t go without watching our video preview.
